Sir Adam Ridley

Sir Adam was a member of the Government Economic Service from 1964 to 1975, Economic Adviser to the Conservative Party Shadow Cabinet from 1974 to 1979, Assistant Director and Director of the Conservative Research Department from 1974 to 1979, Special Advisor to Sir Geoffrey Howe and Nigel Lawson from 1979 to 1985, and Executive Director, Hambros Bank and Plc from 1985 to 1997. He has been a Name since 1977, a member of the Committee of the Association of Lloyd’s Members (ALM) since 1988, and Deputy Chairman since 1994. He represented the ALM in the 1993 settlement negotiations and chaired the Names’ Committee which devised the basis for the Reconstruction and Renewal Settlement. From 1997 to 1999 he was a member of the Council of Lloyd’s and various regulatory committees. In 1996 he became a trustee and Chairman of the Equitas Trust. Sir Adam was Director General and Special Adviser at London Investment Banking from 2000 to 2006. He joined HAL in 2007.
