HUR seeks out, analyses and conducts due diligence on all new syndicate start-ups and special purpose underwriting opportunities. In recent years, Members advised by HAL have given valuable support to “special purpose syndicates” which have been established to take advantage of specific Market conditions. This in turn means that more new business opportunities are offered to HAL, as it is regarded by managing agents as a reliable and consistent provider of capital to new syndicates.
HUR has also been a market leader in the organisation of bilateral syndicate capacity trades with managing agencies, which have proven to be a highly effective means of acquiring significant amounts of capacity for its Members. These have been deals, where HAL Members have been the sole beneficiaries, as they deliberately did not involve members from other Members’ Agents. The ability to participate in these bilateral deals has given HAL Members a major and unique advantage over Members trading through other Members’ Agents.
